I recently came across the tragic incident involving Julian and Reyna Gonzalez in City Heights, and it's just so upsetting to think about the level of terror and violence that unfolded that night. What really stands out to me is Julian’s courage in the face of such danger. Imagine being in that situation and having the instinct to protect your family, even if it means putting yourself in harm's way. His actions were truly heroic, and I think his bravery deserves to be remembered and honored.
I also can’t help but think about the role of restraining orders in cases like this. Clearly, they’re a crucial tool, but there needs to be more awareness and enforcement to offer real protection before things escalate to such a devastating point. My heart goes out to Isabel and her grandfather for what they endured and continue to endure. It’s impossible to imagine the emotional and physical scars they carry.

Restraining orders exist to prevent precisely these kinds of heartbreaking situations, but it's evident we need more robust measures to ensure they're enforced effectively. Sending all my thoughts to the entire Gonzalez family; nobody should ever have to endure something so tragic.
