I’ve been following the discussions here and my heart goes out to Jose Luis Salgado’s family and friends. I can't even begin to imagine the pain they must have gone through. I have been thinking a lot about the role of mistaken identity in this case. It seems so senseless and tragic that Jose was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time. It's terrifying to realize how quickly and horribly things can go wrong because of someone's baseless assumptions. Do any of you think there could have been more done to prevent this kind of tragedy? It seems like community education and outreach might be crucial in raising awareness about gang violence and preventing innocent folks from getting caught in the crossfire. Sending love and strength to all those affected.
