I recently came across an old article about the JROTC program at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, and it made me think of Martin Duque Anguiano. I never met him, but everything I've read paints a picture of such a bright young man with his eyes set on a future of service. Being part of JROTC clearly meant a lot to Martin; you can tell he was genuinely dedicated and driven. It’s just so incredibly sad that someone with so much potential and dreams of becoming a Navy SEAL had his life taken so senselessly. My heart goes out to his family—I can't imagine the depth of their loss. Does anyone know if Martin's story has been shared as part of any advocacy work for the March for Our Lives initiatives? I think it’s important that his aspirations and the essence of who he was continue to inspire positive change in the world.
Has anyone here looked into how the JROTC program at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School was impacted by the shooting? I came across some information about Martin Duque Anguiano and how proud he was to be part of the JROTC, and it got me thinking. It's clear he was deeply committed to his aspirations of becoming a Navy SEAL, and I’m sure that program was a big part of his life.
I wonder if this tragedy affected how the program operates or the way students view it now. The dedication and dreams Martin showed are so inspiring, and it's devastating to think such a bright future was cut short. I'm hoping that in some way, his legacy encourages others in JROTC to pursue their goals with the same passion he did. If anyone has insights into how the program has changed or how other members have been supporting each other, I’d love to hear more.
