I've been following Hoyt Birge's case ever since it first came to light, and it's just been so distressing to read about the events leading to his untimely death. I was particularly struck by the role Peter Tournay played in the investigation. Witnessing such a brutal scene must have been unbelievably traumatic, yet his courage to provide testimony in court is commendable. It can't have been easy to relive those moments in front of a jury, but his account was crucial in bringing those responsible to justice. My heart goes out to him and the Birge family. No one should have to face something so horrific. It really makes you think about the bravery of witnesses in these cases, who, despite their own trauma, step forward to ensure that the truth is known and justice is served.
