Nicholas Renato Baer was a 22-year-old from Bellview, Florida, who was found dead in his Bellview residence on November 25, 2014. Born in Hartford, Connecticut, he moved to Pensacola in 2001 and worked as a welder in his family business, with plans to take over the business. Family and friends remembered him for his big heart, infectious smile, wit, antics, and devotion to loved ones.
Investigators determined Baer died from fatal gunshot wounds during a robbery. The case record states he was involved in selling marijuana and was targeted for cash and drugs. The scene showed signs of a violent struggle; shoe prints and DNA evidence were said to link the perpetrator to the murder. Reginald Williams, 25, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder; prosecutors presented surveillance footage, witness testimony about Baer’s drug activity, and forensic evidence placing Williams at the scene, alleging Williams shot Baer during the robbery.
Anyone who knew Nicholas or has information about the case is asked to come forward.
