On the late night of March 5, 2022, 29-year-old Charles Edward Stanley was found unresponsive in a wrecked vehicle on Harvey Wood Drive in the Rocky Plains community of south Newton County and was pronounced dead at the scene from multiple gunshot wounds. A resident had reported a suspicious man who allegedly stole a vehicle and crashed it into a tree in her yard, prompting deputies to respond.
Investigators say two acquaintances of Stanley, Shane Alexander Robinson, 27, and Tyrez Riquan Bell, 22, fired AR-style rifles at the vehicle. An arrest affidavit attributed to Robinson says he grabbed his AR-15, drove to Harvey Wood Drive intending to scare Stanley, and fired several rounds as Stanley backed up and as he drove away; the affidavit says Robinson fired 13 shots and Bell fired seven. Robinson was arrested on March 6, 2022; Bell was arrested on March 22, 2022. Both were charged with murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
Are there witnesses or neighbors who remember the crash or the shots that night who could add detail to what happened?
