In the early morning of January 20, 2020, 29-year-old Jazmen Glanton was shot during a domestic dispute at the Tall Pines Apartments on Turner Street in LaGrange, Georgia. Glanton, an African American male, had been arguing with his girlfriend, Phatrial Simms, when the argument escalated and Phatrial’s 19-year-old brother, Patrick Reeves, called 911.

LaGrange Police Officer Megan Keith arrived first. As she approached, she witnessed Reeves shoot Glanton. Officer Keith gave verbal commands; when Reeves did not comply she fired and struck Reeves in the arm. Glanton was taken to Wellstar West Georgia Medical Center and pronounced dead of multiple gunshot wounds. Reeves sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was hospitalized.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation reviewed both the death and the officer-involved shooting. Reeves said he shot Glanton after Glanton allegedly reached for a gun and continued advancing toward Reeves and his sister as they backed out of the apartment. Both siblings reported a history of domestic violence by Glanton against Simms. In October 2020 the Coweta Judicial Circuit District Attorney announced no charges would be filed against Officer Keith and cleared Reeves, finding insufficient evidence to disprove his claim of self-defense.

Does anyone have information about Glanton’s movements or contacts that night?
