Deshafore DeAndre Hicks was 21 when he was shot and killed on March 14, 2019, in the 700 block of Villa Crest Avenue in Macon, Georgia. Bibb County deputies arrived around 5:49 p.m. and found Hicks had already died of his injuries; no one else was reported hurt.

Investigators moved quickly. The next day they identified and arrested 31-year-old Javarius Vanderick Davis of Macon. Davis was charged with murder and held at the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center without bond. Authorities did not immediately release a motive, and the sheriff’s office said the investigation was ongoing.
