On the afternoon of September 21, 2011, Robert Antoine James, a 30-year-old Black man, was shot in the head while riding in a black Lexus at the intersection of 34th Street and Ellerslie Avenue in the Waverly neighborhood of Baltimore. He was taken to Johns Hopkins Hospital in critical condition and died the following morning. The shooting occurred across from the Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Family Center Y.

James’s last known address was in the 3400 block of Ravenwood Avenue. Police noted he was on probation at the time and that his criminal history included a May 2002 conviction for attempted first-degree murder. Investigators struggled to develop leads because few witnesses came forward and information was scarce; no suspects have been publicly identified and no arrests have been announced.

Does anyone who lived or worked near 34th and Ellerslie in September 2011 remember anything that could help this unsolved case?
