In the Waverly neighborhood of Baltimore, the life of Robert Antoine James, a 30-year-old Black man, came to a violent end on a late summer day. On the afternoon of September 21, 2011, while riding in a black Lexus at the intersection of 34th Street and Ellerslie Avenue, James was shot in the head. He was rushed to Johns Hopkins Hospital in critical condition but succumbed to his injuries the following morning.
