Ronald Morris Bentley, 40, was found dead in the early morning of June 24, 2018, at the intersection of East Gibson and Park streets in Cedartown, Georgia. Police responded to a 5:15 a.m. 911 call reporting shots fired and pronounced Bentley dead at the scene from a fatal gunshot wound.
The Cedartown Police Department and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation identified two suspects. Laryan Yance Walker, 30, of Cedartown, was arrested on June 28, 2018, and initially charged with murder; charges were later expanded to include felony murder, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Tashon Brown, 26, of Cedartown, was linked to the case while in custody in Floyd County and was charged as a party to murder, felony murder, and aggravated assault, plus possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, hindering apprehension, and tampering with evidence.
Walker was held in the Polk County Jail and Brown remained in the Floyd County Jail. Are there details from that intersection or the early-morning timeline that anyone in the area remembers and can share?
