Kevin Jackson was 16 when he was shot on March 6, 2017, on the 800 block of Crosby Street in Savannah, Georgia. Officers were called around 5:00 p.m. and found him with a gunshot injury; he was taken to a hospital and later died of his wound. Investigators initially said he had been approached by a male with dreadlocks who may have left in a black pickup truck, portraying the shooting as a sudden, targeted act of violence in the neighborhood.

On March 24, 2017, Savannah‑Chatham Metropolitan Police announced an arrest, charging 16‑year‑old Rassan Sharpe with Jackson’s murder after evidence gathered in the days following the shooting.
