Jimmie Lee Daniel, a 67-year-old Black man, was found shot to death inside his home on Elder Street in east Macon on February 22, 2017. A concerned neighbor called authorities, and investigators said Daniel had been shot in the chest. Authorities treated the case as a homicide and immediately began looking into who had been with him and who might have wanted him dead.

Within days investigators named Phillip Lance Rozier Sr., 54, as a suspect. Rozier was arrested on March 1, 2017, at a Carroll Street residence after a Crimestoppers tip and a joint effort that included the U.S. Marshals Southeastern Regional Fugitive Task Force. He was booked on a murder charge, told the judge he was not guilty at his first appearance, and was held without bond. In May 2017 Rozier was indicted in Bibb County on two counts of felony murder, one count of malice murder, and one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon; reports also noted a prior aggravated assault conviction.

Does anyone who knew Jimmie Daniel or was in that neighborhood in February 2017 have information that could help clarify what happened?
