Antonio Lamont Lee was 36 when he was shot and killed on the evening of January 23, 2011, while sitting in his 2010 Acura at a traffic light in the 1400 block of East Monument Street in Baltimore. A white van pulled up alongside his car and its occupants opened fire; Lee was struck multiple times and found slumped over the passenger seat. He was taken to Johns Hopkins Hospital, a block from the scene, where he was pronounced dead. Lee lived on the 1800 block of North Bentalou Street and was on parole at the time.
Detectives faced difficulties early in the investigation: no suspects were immediately identified and witnesses were reluctant to come forward, which investigators publicly noted as hindering the case. Lee’s death came amid a year of rising violent crime in the city. If anyone remembers seeing a white van or activity in the 1400 block of East Monument Street that evening, please come forward with information.
