Shanique Bellamy was 24 and six months pregnant when she was fatally shot inside her Owens Street home in Waycross, Georgia, in the early morning hours of November 7, 2015. First responders pronounced Bellamy dead at the scene. Two young children, ages one and three, were also found with gunshot wounds and were taken to hospital in critical but stable condition; both later survived, though the one-year-old had been shot multiple times.
Bellamy’s sister, who was in the home, heard a loud noise and the children’s cries and discovered Shanique deceased. Authorities identified 30-year-old Clinton Lee Davis Jr., described as Bellamy’s boyfriend, as a suspect and apprehended him the same day at an apartment complex in St. Marys, Georgia. Warrants were issued charging him with murder, feticide, and aggravated assault. Family members said Davis was a U.S. Army veteran they believed had post-traumatic stress disorder; some neighbors alleged a history of abusive behavior toward Bellamy.
Did anyone in the Waycross area at the time have information about the relationship or the events that led up to that night?
