On the night of September 2, 2015, a dispute at Club Status on Pio Nono Avenue in Macon, Georgia, spilled into the parking lot and ended with 29-year-old Aquallo Davis Jr. shot and pronounced dead at 3:18 a.m. The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office opened a homicide investigation after witnesses reported gunfire during the melee.
Investigators initially searched for a Black male driving a dark-colored Jeep Grand Cherokee, later describing the vehicle as a 2000s smoke-gray Jeep Cherokee with a brush guard and four male occupants. Two occupants were described in detail: the driver with dreadlocks wearing a baseball cap, and a passenger with dreadlocks and gold teeth. The day after the shooting authorities identified 24-year-old Gregory Bernard Staten Jr. as the primary suspect, issued a murder warrant, and later reported that he surrendered to law enforcement.
A judge denied bond for Staten in January 2016 and he remained in custody. Does anyone have information about Aquallo Davis, his movements that night, or further details about the investigation?
