On the night of September 2, 2014, 18-year-old Devin Jackson was sitting on a couch inside an apartment on Upper Riverdale Road in Jonesboro, Georgia, when gunfire erupted in the complex’s parking lot shortly after 12:30 a.m. One of the rounds entered the apartment and struck Devin. He was taken to a local hospital but died of his injuries; investigators determined he was an innocent victim struck by a stray bullet and not the intended target.

Clayton County police investigated, developed a description and released a composite sketch of a potential suspect, and appealed to the public for help. Despite those efforts the case later went cold; no arrests or identification of a specific suspect have been reported in the years since.
