In the early morning hours of May 28, 2014, a 13-year-old girl called 911 from her family home on Platinum Court in Hoschton, Georgia. Gwinnett County police responding at about 4:30 a.m. found 30-year-old Melissa Gail Kimsey inside the house, shot multiple times and deceased. The couple’s teenage daughter was physically unharmed.
Officers located Melissa’s husband, 31-year-old Rodney Kimsey II, acting erratically near a neighboring house and he was taken to a local hospital for evaluation. Authorities later identified Rodney Kimsey II as the primary suspect in Melissa’s death and, while he remained at the hospital, issued warrants for his arrest on felony murder and aggravated assault; he was to be taken into custody upon release from medical care. The case was later featured in an HBO documentary about gun deaths.
Did anyone in the area then or since see anything on Platinum Court that morning or have information about the family leading up to May 28, 2014?
