Luan McMichen and a man named Jeff Robinson were shot to death on the evening of November 16, 1990, at a rural Douglas County, Georgia, residence where Luan and her husband Kim Anthony McMichen had been living with his parents. The couple had been married seven years and had a daughter, Katie. Kim McMichen retrieved a .38 revolver, fired two shots in quick succession, killing Robinson with a shot to the ear and striking Luan in the heart; she died within minutes.
After the shootings, Kim McMichen returned to his truck for a beer, led his young daughter past the bodies and left her in the truck with a view of the scene, then went to a neighbor’s to call his mother and reportedly said he had done it. He was arrested, tried, and in 1993 convicted on two counts of malice murder; the jury recommended death and the trial court imposed it. The Georgia Supreme Court affirmed the convictions and sentences in 1995.
Does anyone have memories of the family or the neighborhood in Douglas County around 1990 that might add context to what happened?
