Raymond Jackson Jr., 36, was shot and killed on February 1, 2022, in Glenwood, Illinois. Officers found him about 9:30 a.m. in the 100 block of Spruce Lane with multiple gunshot wounds; he was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn and pronounced dead shortly after 10 a.m. The Cook County medical examiner’s office ruled the death a homicide.

Investigators say Jackson was targeted and that those involved fled in a silver or tan minivan. Charges were later filed against 34-year-old Xavier Tucker of Chicago, who was arrested after being found unconscious in his car with a gun protruding from his pocket. Tucker was charged with first-degree murder and was already on electronic monitoring for a pending murder case and a separate felony gun charge; court records disclosed prior felony convictions for aggravated discharge of a firearm and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon. His defense portrayed community ties, church involvement, and outreach work, and Tucker denied the charges. Bail was set at $2 million with a 10% bond option, though he was also held without bond on a separate charge, and further proceedings were scheduled at the Markham courthouse.
