Terryl Rucker, a 26-year-old African American man from Oakland, was fatally shot on the evening of November 1, 2014. The attack happened outside Al-Awdi’s Mini Mart and Kitchen at 3841 West Street, near the MacArthur BART station. At about 8:07 p.m. at least one person opened fire; Rucker was struck multiple times, managed to reach the store doorway, and then collapsed. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities said Rucker frequented the area but did not live in the neighborhood. His death was recorded as Oakland’s 71st homicide of 2014, occurring during a week that included other fatal shootings in the city. No motive or suspect description was released and no arrests had been announced. The Oakland Police Department offered a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to an arrest, and Crime Stoppers of Oakland asked for tips.

If anyone has information about that evening or about Rucker’s contacts in the area, please share what is known with the Oakland Police Department or Crime Stoppers.
