Rashidi Lateef Overstreet, a 40-year-old security guard at the Douglass Center Library, was killed in a shooting at a residence in the 400-block of Brookwood Drive in Champaign in the early hours of December 22, 2014. Officers found evidence of a shooting and two victims; Overstreet was pronounced dead at the scene and a second victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries and later recovered. Rashidi was born November 9, 1974, in Champaign and was described as active in the community.

Investigators pursued the case for years. On August 17, 2022, the Champaign County State’s Attorney charged four men in connection with the incident: Peter Campbell, Dylon Cann, Anthony Gilmore, and Joseph Hart. All four were arrested and held in custody pending trial. The investigation remained ongoing and authorities sought additional information from the public.

Does anyone have information about Rashidi, the Brookwood Drive scene, or sightings from that night that could help the investigation?
