Allen M. Redding, 26, was found with multiple gunshot wounds near 1500 Hedge Road in Champaign, Illinois, after shots were reported about 5:50 PM on June 24, 2014. He was taken by responding officers and later succumbed to his injuries.

Investigators developed several suspects and pursued arrest warrants. Devon D. Craig, 37, of Champaign, was arrested in Chicago on June 28, 2014, on a Champaign County warrant for Armed Habitual Career Criminal; his bond was set at $500,000. Arrest warrants were also issued for Micah J. Hopkins, 30, and Paul E. Craig, 38, both of Champaign. Hopkins faced charges including Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm and Aggravated Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, with bond set at $500,000; Paul Craig faced charges including Armed Habitual Criminal and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon, with bond set at $750,000. Hopkins was arrested in Blytheville, Arkansas, during the investigation.
