Terrance Kimball, 25, was killed in Metairie, Louisiana, on the night of July 23, 2022, in what investigators described as a retaliatory shooting tied to a neighborhood feud. Earlier that evening, 23-year-old Justin Tumblin had been shot to death in a different Metairie neighborhood. According to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office, within about 40 minutes of Tumblin’s killing a car carrying his associates went to a rival neighborhood and there Kimball was shot and killed; authorities said Kimball was not directly involved in the earlier homicide.

Investigators treated Kimball’s death as an immediate act of retaliation and launched inquiries into both shootings. Two families were left grieving and the community was shaken by the rapid escalation.
