On the evening of November 18, 2018, in Garyville, Louisiana, 34-year-old Lorenzo Eugene was shot and killed in what authorities described as an ambush-style attack. The shooting happened just before 8 p.m. near his residence on South Fig Street, where investigators believe someone waited for him to emerge before opening fire. Neighbors reported hearing a volley of gunshots, estimated at seven to thirteen rounds.

When officers arrived they found Eugene with numerous gunshot wounds; he was pronounced dead at the scene. A handgun was found in his possession. Eugene was a father to three children, and his mother, Sharon Eugene, joined family appeals asking anyone with information to come forward. No arrests have been announced and the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate.
