Toussaint James Johnson Jr., 28, a Black man from New Iberia, Louisiana, was shot multiple times and died after a late-night burst of gunfire on June 27, 2018. Deputies heard shots shortly after 9:00 p.m. near Corrine Street and Lombard Street and found Johnson gravely wounded in the 600 block of Corrine Street. Life-saving efforts were attempted at the scene but his injuries proved fatal.

Crime Stoppers ran appeals in the days and weeks after the killing asking anyone with information to come forward; those appeals repeated the timeline but did not name a suspect or report any arrests. Funeral notices identified Johnson as a native and resident of New Iberia and recorded the community’s goodbye.

Does anyone in the New Iberia area remember that night or have information that could help clarify what happened?
