Shella Shay Thomas Howard, 27, was found dead in her Donaldsonville, Louisiana, home on July 21, 2014, the victim of multiple gunshot wounds. Deputies from the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported shooting and discovered her deceased at the scene.

Investigators focused on her husband, Jaris Howard. After the shooting he took the couple’s minor child to a relative’s house and there confessed to family members that he had killed his wife; he later made a similar admission to deputies while being transported to the Ascension Parish Detention Center.
