Dr. Devon Hoover, 53, was found dead in the attic crawl space of his Boston-Edison home in Detroit on April 23, 2023, wrapped in a blood-soaked carpet and wearing only socks. Police had been tied to the house the night before after officers responded to a white Range Rover blocking a driveway on Coyle Street; officers saw what looked like blood inside the vehicle and traced the SUV to Hoover and his West Boston Boulevard residence. The medical examiner concluded Hoover was shot twice in the back of the head and ruled the death a homicide.

Items were reported missing from the home after the killing — Hoover’s cellphone, wallet, cash, financial cards, and designer watches — and prosecutors said fraudulent transactions began almost immediately and continued for days. Investigators described overlapping digital and surveillance evidence linking Hoover’s phone and a number attributed to a person of interest, later identified as Desmond Burks, to similar locations on the day of the murder, followed by the disappearance of Hoover’s phone from the residence. Within a week officers had questioned a person of interest and released him; the investigation remained active.

Does anyone have information about Hoover’s movements in Detroit around April 22–23, 2023, or about the white Range Rover seen on Coyle Street?
