Deshawn Patrick Clark, a 30-year-old African American man, was shot to death on the night of November 3, 2017, in the parking lot of the Taco Bell at 510 E. Innes Street in Salisbury, North Carolina. Witnesses reported an altercation there between Clark and another man, Tariq Khalid Mosley Jr., during which shots were fired. Clark ran into a neighboring tobacco shop, collapsed, and was taken to a hospital where he died.
Salisbury police arrested 20-year-old Tariq Khalid Mosley Jr. on November 8, 2017. He was initially charged with murder; a Rowan County grand jury later returned an indictment on the lesser count of voluntary manslaughter after the district attorney’s office presented evidence that Mosley had no prior intent to kill. Investigators recovered six spent shell casings in the Taco Bell parking lot and reviewed surveillance footage showing Mosley inside the tobacco shop shortly before the shooting. Mosley was held at the Rowan County Detention Center on a $125,000 secured bond.
Did anyone witness the altercation or see activity in that plaza the night of November 3?
