Kelcie Lynn Vann was 24 when she and her boyfriend, 27-year-old Bryant James Rosser, were found shot in a car on Buffalo Lakes Road in Sanford on August 14, 2017. The victims were discovered in a grey Toyota Camry that had multiple bullet holes in the windshield and hood. The Harnett County Sheriff’s Office determined both sustained gunshot wounds and classified the deaths as a homicide.
Kelcie was born May 13, 1993, in Lee County and had graduated from Lee Senior High School in 2011. She had completed dental assisting school, worked at Chick-fil-A in Aberdeen, and was a member of Flat Springs Baptist Church. Family members remembered her as a free spirit and a ray of sunshine.
Three people were arrested and charged with first-degree murder in connection with the ambush: Gregory Recardo Fargas, 25, of Lillington; Tracy Nicole Read, 33, of Sanford; and Jadin Quincey Bailey, 20, of Lillington. Investigators say the suspects set up a staged drug deal to lure the couple and planned to rob them, believing the victims had a backpack containing a firearm and drugs.
If anyone knew Kelcie or has information about the events on Buffalo Lakes Road that night, please come forward.
