Covair Devon Frost, 25, of New Bern, North Carolina, was shot and killed on April 20, 2015, as he stepped outside his girlfriend’s apartment in the Craven Terrace community. He was struck six times and later died from his wounds. Frost graduated from Jones Senior High School in 2009, played basketball and football, and later earned a barbering degree from Craven Community College. He is survived by his daughter Kailey Frost and his stepson and stepdaughters.

Investigators identified 22-year-old Quentin Thigpen at the scene and arrested him within minutes while he attempted to flee; he was found in possession of a .40 caliber handgun. Forensic testing later showed gunshot residue on his clothing after he had tried to remove or conceal it during a videotaped interview. The killing was linked by investigators to a dispute following a concert organized by Damien Brown; prosecutors said Brown offered money to anyone who would lay hands on Frost after an earlier fight, and Thigpen accepted.

Frost’s funeral was held on April 26, 2015, at the Northwest A Free Will Baptist Association Conference Tabernacle in Trenton, and he was buried in White Oak Cemetery in Maysville. Does anyone who knew Covair or who was in Craven Terrace on April 20 have information that could add to the record?
