Kenneth Joe Wray, 74, of Rural Hall, North Carolina, died of gunshot wounds sustained during a double shooting at his home on February 16, 2014. Deputies responded about 9:50 p.m. to a 911 call reporting a home invasion and found Wray and another man, 33-year-old Thomas Jacob Bowman of Winston-Salem, shot inside the residence. Bowman was pronounced dead at the scene; Wray was taken to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center and later died there.

Investigators say Wray had been at home alone when the incident occurred. Deputies initially treated the event as a home invasion, but the circumstances remained unclear. Bowman, described in reports as having a long criminal history, was shot once; Wray was shot multiple times. The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office continued the investigation and asked anyone with information to come forward.
