Tyrone Ledbetter was 36 when he was fatally shot on Grand River Avenue in Detroit on the evening of April 21, 2011. Investigators called the incident a targeted attack. The homicide became one of many violent crimes that year in the city and was hampered early on by limited resources and a lack of cooperation from potential witnesses.
No suspects have been publicly identified and no arrests have been made. The case is now considered cold and is periodically reviewed by Detroit’s Cold Case Unit, which hopes that improved forensic techniques and renewed outreach might produce new leads. What did Tyrone mean to the people who knew him, and does anyone have information that could help bring answers?
