Edward Mitchell, a 22-year-old Black man, was found dead on December 20, 2010, at a residence on the 14500 block of Marlowe Street on Detroit’s west side. His death was classified as a homicide, occurring during a year that produced a high number of violent deaths in the city and falling just days before Christmas. The scene was in a residential area of single-family homes typical of that part of Detroit.
