Timothy Wayne Mosley, 51, was found shot to death in the early hours of January 31, 2022, at a residence in West Knox County, Tennessee. Investigators identified a potential suspect soon after the discovery and arrested Mosley’s 17-year-old nephew, Thomas Harper, who was charged with murder and later transferred to adult criminal court.
During proceedings Harper said he acted after alleging Mosley had sexually abused four children; those allegations were investigated but no charges were filed against Mosley. Harper ultimately pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter. In May 2024 the judge sentenced him to six years of probation, including one year of enhanced probation, and granted judicial diversion allowing the conviction to be expunged after 15 years. Family members in court spoke of Mosley as a confidante and friend while acknowledging his faults.
