Charles Graves, 51, was found unresponsive in his home on Lester Lane in Martin, Tennessee, on April 18, 2017. A home health worker discovered him and emergency crews pronounced him dead at the scene from a gunshot wound. The Martin Police Department opened a homicide investigation.
Investigators identified 26-year-old Khalil Taylor of Martin as the person responsible; authorities said the act was not random, not a home invasion, and not gang-related, and they believed Taylor acted alone. He was arrested and charged with first-degree murder and held without bond at the Weakley County Detention Center.
In December 2018 Taylor pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and especially aggravated robbery and received a 40-year sentence for the murder with a concurrent 25-year sentence for the robbery. Family and friends remembered Graves in a service at McCabe United Methodist Church; he was buried at Parham Cemetery.
Did anyone in Martin have regular contact with Charles Graves in 2017 who can add context about his life or routines?
