On the night of Friday, January 8, 2016, 30-year-old Timothy Smith, a White/Caucasian male, was shot and killed at a residence in the 700 block of Lafayette Street in Bolivar, Tennessee. Smith was living as a roommate in that home; an altercation took place inside the house and police found him dead from gunshot wounds after responding to the call.

The Bolivar Police Department identified Jammy Harbin, who lived in the house with his wife and son, as the suspect. Harbin was arrested and charged with second-degree murder and was held on a $100,000 bond. His attorney has asserted the shooting was self-defense, saying Smith was assaulting Harbin’s son at the time.
