Xavier James Lopez was 10 years old when he was killed at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, on May 24, 2022. Born March 12, 2012, he played baseball for the Blue Jays and was the son of Abel and Felicha Lopez. Xavier and his close friend Annabell Rodriguez, also 10, were killed in the same attack; their families chose to bury them side by side at Hillcrest Cemetery in Uvalde.

The shooter was identified as Salvador Ramos, who entered the school and carried out a mass shooting that killed 19 students and two teachers. Ramos was killed by law enforcement at the scene. Victims families, including Xavier’s, have pursued legal action against the school district and law enforcement agencies alleging failures that contributed to the tragedy.
