In the early hours of March 29, 2013, the life of a young Black man, Khiry Jowers, was tragically cut short. At approximately 2:15 a.m., the 21-year-old was found shot in the rear of a house on the 1300 block of East Lanvale Street in Baltimore, Maryland. Jowers, a resident of the 2700 block of East Monument Street, succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
