Ronnie Pearson was a 20-year-old man from Shreveport who was found dead on January 30, 2022, on the side of Highway 79 East near the Cherokee–Rusk County line in Texas. He and another man, Jakari Hogan, were discovered with apparent gunshot wounds; investigators determined both men had been shot and killed.
The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office identified 20-year-old Devon Harris, also known as Nooney Bugg, as the suspect. Harris allegedly pulled the car over, produced a pistol, and shot Pearson and Hogan. Witnesses say Harris attempted to move Hogan’s body to the road shoulder, fled when a passing motorist stopped to assist and mentioned calling 911, disposed of the weapon, then took Hogan’s car into Louisiana and abandoned it.
The families have been seeking justice and closure. If anyone knew Ronnie, Jakari, or saw activity on Highway 79 East that morning, please share what you remember.
