Jeremiah K. Grant was a 19-year-old Black man who was shot and killed in Silsbee, Texas, in the early hours of June 2, 2021. The incident began at the Buzzy Bee Convenience Store on Highway 96 South and ended when Jeremiah was found lying in the roadway at the intersection of Martin Luther King Drive and Pine Street around 12:30 a.m.; he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Silsbee police said the shooting followed an altercation during a drug-related transaction. Investigators concluded Jeremiah had been shot while inside a vehicle and then pushed out onto the street. Three people were identified in connection with the case. On June 18, 2021, Jacob Matthew Decuir, 19, was arrested at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital; authorities said he had critical injuries from the same shooting and charged him with murder and several other offenses. Bryce Pfeffer, 20, and Emily Rannols, 19, were also arrested and charged with murder and engaging in organized criminal activity; their bonds were set at $700,000 each.
In early 2026, Bryce Pfeffer went to trial; a jury acquitted him of murder but convicted him on charges including engaging in organized criminal activity and delivery of a controlled substance. Legal proceedings were ongoing as of early 2026. If anyone knew Jeremiah, was at the Buzzy Bee that night, or has information about the transaction or altercation, please come forward.
