Devonn Dozell Mayhew, 21, was found fatally shot in the roadway at the intersection of S. 7th Street and W. Avenue E in Copperas Cove, Texas, on July 23, 2020. Officers responded about 11:13 PM and the Fire Department EMS pronounced him deceased at the scene. The death has been classified as a homicide.

Detectives obtained surveillance video from the area and identified a person of interest seen shortly before the shooting; that footage was released to the public.

Anyone who was in the neighborhood that night or who recognizes the person in the released footage is asked to contact the Copperas Cove Police Department with information.
