On April 8, 2020, 22-year-old Keshaun Anderson, a Black man from Henderson, Texas, was shot and later pronounced dead at a local hospital after being found unresponsive at an apartment complex in the 180 block of Elm Street. A 20-year-old Black woman, Haley Johnson, was found dead at the scene; both victims left behind two young daughters who were unharmed.

Henderson police answered a shots fired call just before midnight. Investigators described the killings as appearing to be a targeted attack, but a motive had not been determined. Police were processing the scene and collecting evidence to identify suspects; as of the latest account there have been no arrests or publicly named suspects and the case remains open.
