Ernesto Salinas Jr., 49, of Alice, Texas, died after being shot in the face during an altercation on February 3, 2020, on the 1200 block of San Felipe Street. He was taken to a Corpus Christi hospital and placed on life support before his family elected to remove life support, and he passed away February 4, 2020.
Authorities sought 46-year-old Victor Trevino Jr., also of Alice, after witnesses said the dispute began over a car parked at the residence and that Trevino shot Salinas. Trevino turned himself in to the Jim Wells County Sheriff’s Department on the morning of February 4, 2020, and was charged with murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Investigators, assisted by Texas Rangers and Game Wardens, recovered the suspected weapon near the scene and booked Trevino into the county jail with bond set at $400,000.
The investigation was described as ongoing as authorities continued gathering evidence and conducting interviews. Does anyone have information about what happened that night or knew either man?
