Toni Lea DeBuse, 46, was found dead from a gunshot wound in a bedroom of a home near Devine, Texas, on June 5, 2018. Deputies from the Medina County Sheriff’s Office determined the death was not suicide or accidental and treated it as a homicide. DeBuse had been living at the residence and was known locally for selling barrels along Highway 132 in Devine.
A 62-year-old man, James Marion Williamson, was detained for questioning after reportedly calling an ex-family member to say a woman had been shot at his home; that family member alerted authorities. Deputies located Williamson in tall weeds around the house and initially detained him. Within hours the crime-scene evidence and the medical examiner’s findings led to his arrest on murder charges; he was booked into the Medina County Jail with bond set at $1 million. Multiple weapons were present at the scene, and investigators examined which weapon caused the fatal wound. The sheriff described the relationship between DeBuse and Williamson as on-and-off and said there was no history of domestic violence at the location.
What information can anyone with knowledge of the area or of Toni Lea DeBuse’s activities provide to help clarify the timeline or motive?
