Azariah Rosa-Lee Martinez, a 1-year-old girl from Waco, Texas, was found shot execution-style in the head while strapped in a car seat in a vehicle near Tradinghouse Lake Park on November 5, 2017. Her mother, 24-year-old Valarie Martinez, was also found shot in the head at the same location.
The investigation led to the arrest of Christopher Weiss, who was accused of the murders and charged with capital murder. Prosecutors presented eyewitness accounts, cell phone location data and video footage and argued Weiss killed Valarie and Azariah to avoid child support and pursue a relationship with another woman. The defense contended there was no direct evidence tying Weiss to the killings and said DNA tests were inconclusive or excluded him from the scene.
A jury found Christopher Weiss guilty of capital murder in Azariah’s death and he was sentenced to life in prison without parole. Did anyone in Waco have information about the family, the park, or movements around November 5, 2017?
