Staff Sergeant Brian Michael Reed, 40, was found unresponsive in his off-post residence in Copperas Cove, Texas, on March 14, 2016. Authorities at the scene reported that he had sustained a gunshot wound to the head; initial statements noted no immediate signs of foul play and a possible self-inflicted injury. An autopsy was ordered and the official cause of death has not been publicly disclosed.
Reed’s home of record was Corpus Christi. He enlisted in August 2005 and served as an infantryman before becoming an explosive ordnance disposal specialist. At the time he was assigned to the 79th Ordnance Battalion at Fort Hood, having joined that unit in October 2015. His service record included deployments to Iraq (August 2006–September 2007) and Afghanistan (April 2011–April 2012) and decorations such as the Bronze Star Medal and an Army Commendation with valor.
Does anyone have information about Reed’s whereabouts or contacts in Copperas Cove around March 2016?
