DaCoreyan Antonio D-Roc Blankenship, a 21-year-old Black male, was found shot to death along a residential street in Longview, Texas, on March 3, 2015. His killing occurred during a sharp rise in violence in the city; police recorded six homicides in the first two months of 2015, a total that already exceeded the prior year’s number.

Detectives discovered Blankenship’s body with multiple gunshot wounds. The community responded with candlelight vigils, marches and other gatherings to honor him and press for action as local law enforcement worked to address the sudden spike in violent crime. No arrests or named suspects have been publicly reported and the case remains unsolved.
