Mary Regina Gina Linam was a 7-year-old girl killed on June 22, 1980, in Daingerfield, Texas, when a gunman opened fire during Sunday school at the First Baptist Church. The shooter, identified as 29-year-old high school teacher Alvin Lee King, entered the church armed with two assault rifles and fatally wounded five people, including Gina.
Members of the congregation subdued and arrested King at the scene. He was charged with five counts of murder, found guilty on all counts, and sentenced to life imprisonment without parole. The attack drew national attention and affected the small community deeply.
If anyone knew Gina or remembers that day at First Baptist Church, any recollections or information that could help preserve her memory are welcome.
