On May 11, 2025, 50-year-old Antonious Brinson was fatally shot during a drive-by shooting at a residence on the 200 block of East 6th Street in Alma, Georgia. Emergency crews transported Brinson to Bacon County Hospital around 4:30 p.m., but he died of his injuries. His body was sent to the GBI Medical Examiner’s Office in Pooler for autopsy.

Investigators from the Alma Police Department asked the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to lead the death investigation, with support from the Bacon County Sheriff’s Office. Witness statements and scene evidence identified a suspect; later that evening officers located 34-year-old Anthony Dwayne Johnson at a local motel and took him into custody without incident. He was booked into the Bacon County Jail and charged with Felony Murder, two counts of Aggravated Assault, Possession of a Firearm during a crime, and Possession of a Firearm by a convicted felon. The Waycross Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office is set to prosecute the case.
